Dorothy Bulas MD completed a combined six year medical program with Lehigh University and the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She is boarded in both pediatrics and radiology completing her pediatric training at the University of Maryland and New York Hospital and her radiology residency at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. She completed a pediatric radiology fellowship at the Children's National Medical Center and has been on staff there since 1989. She became a professor of Pediatrics and Radiology at the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2000. She completed a master teachers program at CNMC in 2003. She currently is Vice Chief of Academic Affairs, Program Director of Pediatric Radiology, Section Head of Ultrasound and Fetal Imaging at CNMC. Dr. Bulas is a fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American College of Radiology, Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound and American Association of Pediatrics.

She is on the board of the Academy of Radiology Research and member of the RSNA. She is current Past President, Society for Pediatric Radiology. She is on the ACR Practice Guidelines committee, ACR Appropriateness Criteria Committee, is an oral examiner and chair of the pediatric radiology CAQ exam for the American Board of Radiology.

She is a member of the steering committee of the Image Gently Campaign. Dr. Bulas's main areas of interest are fetal imaging, pediatric ultrasound, neurosonology, transcranial Doppler, and radiation safety. She has authored over 90 peer reviewed manuscripts, 50 invited articles and chapters, and has delivered over 100 national and international invited lectures.

 

The Academy of Radiology Research is an alliance of 26 professional imaging societies. Established in 1995, the Academy was the catalyst for creating the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), for supporting its growth and development, for accelerating investment in vital imaging research areas by other NIH institutes, and for building support for radiology and imaging in Congress and the Executive Branch. The Academy also compiles data on imaging research, such as NIH rankings of grants to Radiology departments.
