Education:
Dr. Dodd graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1983, and completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Angio-Interventional Radiology at the University of Cincinnati in 1988.
Achievements:
Dr. Dodd has authored or co-authored over 120 peer reviewed scientific papers, invited manuscripts, and book chapters; and obtained research funding from both corporate and government agencies.

Gerald Dodd III, M.D. is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology at the
University of Colorado. Dr. Dodd graduated from the University of Texas Medical
School at Houston in 1983, and completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology and a
fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Angio-Interventional Radiology at the University
of Cincinnati in 1988. He was a member of the faculty at the University of Cincinnati for
two years, the University of Pittsburgh for four years, and the University of Texas Health
Science Center San Antonio for 14 years. He served as the Chair of the Department of
Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio from 2001 until
2008 when he was recruited to be the Chair of Radiology at the University of Colorado.
His career has been distinguished by numerous honors and awards including fellowships
in the American College of Radiology, the Society of Computed Body Tomography,
and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound. He completed the Melvin M. Figley
Fellowship in Radiology journalism in 1992 and was the Traveling Professor of the
Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists in 2000. He has received over 30 awards for his
research from five different national medical societies including the top awards of the
Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the American Roentgen Ray Society,
the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists, the Society of Computed Body Tomography,
and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.
He has served on the editorial boards of
the American Journal of Roentgenology, the Journal of Computed Tomography, the
Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, and the Journal of Interventional Oncology. Dr. Dodd has
authored or co-authored over 120 peer reviewed scientific papers, invited manuscripts,
and book chapters; and obtained research funding from both corporate and government
agencies. Recent NIH grants include a small animal cancer model for image guided
intervention, a multi-center trial of the use of radiofrequency ablation for the treatment
of HCC, and a training grant for a resident-PhD program designed to graduate highly
competitive academic radiologists. He is currently a member of the Board of Chancellors
of the American College of Radiology, President of the Colorado Radiological Society,
immediate past Chairman of the RSNA Scientific Program Committee, and past President
of the Texas Radiological Society.
