This year the CECI² members attended a day-long visit to the NIH, accompanied by Dr. Hedvig Hricak, Dr. Steven Seltezer, Dr. Carolyn Meltzer and Academy senior staff, where they spent time visiting NIH Institutes of preference in the morning and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) learning about the grant process as well as how to better understand how each institute works and the processes they follow.
The researchers also spent most of a day making visits to Capitol Hill to meet with their members of Congress in both the House and Senate. This is their first foray into grassroots advocacy and the Academy greatly values their participation and future roles in leadership.
