In October of 2022, the Academy hosted a pilot workshop developed by a committee of female early career investigators, in collaboration with Academy leadership, on the “presence and voice of female perspectives within radiology”. Members of the Academy’s Council of Early Career Investigators in Imaging (CECI²), representing more than 30 academic departments, brought the need to meaningfully engage on the unique topics facing women in imaging to our attention and suggested that the Academy is uniquely positioned to facilitate these discussions.
The purpose was to create a unique, organic, and impactful program that would serve as a foundation to build an active and connected community of women in imaging.
Nine female early career investigators created the program in collaboration with a leadership planning committee of:
The below resources have been curated and collated as a direct result of that workshop. The Academy hopes that this report and corresponding resources illustrates for you, our members, a meaningful new effort that you can share across your departments and societies. We look forward to your future engagement on this important topic. This is the first step in the creation of a sustainable program for women, by women, from within the academic imaging community.

Academy Book Club Initiative & Resources
The goal of this Academy initiative is to engage our entire community on common themes and guided discussions on how women can become more effective leaders in our field. As each of these sessions is led by an active member of our community, the Academy is currently planning its next session and seeking out both a new book and discussion leader. We hope to announce a session date for the Fall of 2023 in the coming weeks.
Any and all suggestions or feedback on this initiative can be directed to Casey Cappelletti, ccappelletti@acadrad.org.
