Co-Chair Council of Early Career Investigators in Imaging

Dr. Stojanovska is an Assistant Professor of radiology at the University of Michigan on instructional tract. She currently serves as a Director of Cardiovascular MR program. As a physician-scientist her interest in translational research emerged as a post-doctoral research fellow, at the Center for Molecular Imaging at the University of Michigan and her interest in cardiovascular imaging emerged as a cardiothoracic radiology fellow and faculty at the University of Michigan. Her clinical interests include cardiovascular imaging with special focus on cardiac Magnetic resonance and patients outcome. Her research proposal centers on imaging of epicardial adipose tissue to characterize lipid content, inflammation, and fibrosis and correlate this information with metabolomics and histologic samples from patients obtained at the time of their open-heart surgery. The goal is to understand the epicardial adipose tissue biology by integrated approaches of imaging, molecular, genetic, and metabolite profiling for improved risk phenotyping of cardiometabolic health in obesity and design improved management approaches of patients with cardiometabolic disease such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
