Jo Edwards, EdD / Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiological Sciences (AEIRS)

Dr. Edwards is a professor and holds the Adams Chair of Excellence in Health Care Services. She is the Director of the Center for Health and Human Services (CHHS) at Middle Tennessee State University. She earned her Doctorate from the University of Florida in Gainesville, a Masters degree from the University of Memphis, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Edwards is a Registered Radiographer and a Certified Health Education Specialist. She is a FELLOW in the American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) and in the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences (AEIRS).

Active professionally, she has served on many state, local, and national committees and boards. She is published, and is on the AEIRS Editorial Review Board and the ERB for Radiography, the International Journal of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Therapy. As the director of the Center for Health and Human Services she engages faculty and staff at MTSU to work with the Tennessee Department of Health, volunteer health organizations and other state and federal agencies to improve the health of populations.

Dr. Edwards’ international experience includes consulting in Europe, living in Kuwait in the Middle East helping develop the college of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing. She spent three years working with squatter settlements in public health and HIV/AIDs issues in Durban South Africa through a USAID funded project.
