Paul E. Kinahan, PhD

Dr. Paul Kinahan received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia. He then went on to complete his PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1994. Dr. Kinahan was also a member of the team to develop the first PET/CT scanner at the University of Pittsburgh during his time as an Assistant Professor of Radiology. He currently serves on the AAPM executive committee. Dr. Kinahan’s research is focused on medical imaging using positron emission tomography (PET). He has applied this research in a number of ways including co-founding PET/X LLC in 2012, a startup company aiming to develop imaging systems to guide cancer therapies.
