The Academy itself does not engage in any research activities, nor is it an accrediting institution or arbitrator of disputes with or for any of its members. It does encourage that all members conduct research activities to the highest ethical standards possible. All our academic members operate under strict guidelines laid out by their governing institution. Additionally, any researcher receiving any NIH or other federal agency grant money is also subject to regulations defined by Health and Human Services (HHS). All clinical trials are regulated by HHS and its Office for Human Research Protections.
The Academy’s academic research institutions do not receive compensation from industry to influence the outcomes of research. Also, all Academy members share conflict of interest statements (should any exist) when publishing on behalf of the Academy.
